SF City College Needs a Green New Deal & Climate Action and Sustainability Plan

City College San Francisco does not yet have or follow a climate action and sustainability plan, despite efforts begun almost two decades ago. As one of the largest property owners in San Francisco, CCSF must do its part to ensure and contribute to a sustainable future and a just transition to a green, all-electric City.

Now we can help change that. City College Board President Alan Wong has submitted a proposal for such a Plan to the college's Board for an upcoming vote in January. The Resolution Supporting a Green New Deal for City College and Adopting a Climate Action and Sustainability Plan includes:

  • elimination of all GHG emissions by 2035, building and vehicle electrification, clean energy procurement, water conservation, zero waste, sustainable and ethical food systems

  • implementation benchmarks, designated campus Sustainability Officer, hiring of an expert advisor

  • goals and actions called for by the California Climate Change Scoping Plan and the California Community Colleges' Board of Governors

See the full text of the Resolution here.
