Not even half of the states in our union have banned “conversion therapy,” which is the harmful practice that wrongfully attempts to change the sexual orientation of an LGBTQ+ individual.

Conversion therapy has been thoroughly debunked. It has been determined to be ineffective and dangerous by The American Medical Association, The American Psychological Association, and The American Counseling Association.

A study published by The Trevor Project in The American Journal of Public Health indicated that LGBTQ+ youth who participated in conversion therapy were more than twice as likely to have attempted suicide.

In states that haven’t banned conversion therapy, the LGBTQ+ community remains vulnerable to its harmful effects! We must protect their human rights.

H.R. 4146/ S. 2242 known as the Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act was introduced in the previous Congress. It would classify conversion therapy as fraudulent, effectively banning it nationwide.
