State Lawmakers: Stand Up for Our Students with Special Needs

Governor Ned Lamont has vetoed the additional $40 million in special education funding for regional and local public schools that the legislature recently approved. We must urge state lawmakers to stand with us, as well as our students and their families, by voting to override this misguided action.

We know that special education transcends political lines and speaks directly to the values of fairness and opportunity that our elected officials stand for. The initial legislation received near unanimous, bipartisan support when it was passed last week by the General Assembly.

Email your state Representative and Senator. Tell them why overriding the governor’s veto is more than just a policy decision; it is a commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, receives the education they deserve.
