Trump's 'public charge' rule was temporarily blocked by 3 federal judges - a small victory!

We must continue to fight back and stop this rule from being implemented altogether. The archaic rule would deny green cards to those who have used public benefits or seem likely to do so. The rule would have devastated legal immigrants who have come to this country to seek a better life. Families should not be punished for utilizing the services they depend on, like food stamps, housing assistance, and Medicaid to survive.

This is an important victory, but the fight is far from over.

Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawaii) and 26 Senate Democrats introduced the Protect American Values Act. This legislation would prohibit the Trump Administration from using federal funding to implement its so-called “public charge” rule.
