Submit a Public Comment: Tell PVSC NO New Gas Plant in Newark

The Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC) is accepting public comments on their proposal to build a new gas-fired power plant in Newark's Ironbound Community. If approved, this would be the fourth gas plant in the Ironbound, a community already overburdened with harmful air pollutants from these plants, the state's largest trash incinerator, highways, shipping and trucking routes, Newark Airport, and dozens of other industrial sites. PVSC must not be allowed to move forward with this gas plant proposal, and instead must redesign their resiliency project in a way that does NOT involve the construction of a new gas plant.

We’re in the critical next phase of our campaign to stop PVSC’s plans to build a new polluting power plant in Newark’s Ironbound community. From now until July 3rd, PVSC will receive public comments regarding their proposal as part of the environmental justice review of the project. We need to send a strong message to PVSC and Governor Murphy that they must cancel the gas plant and redesign the project in a way that doesn’t bring any more pollution to Newark! That’s why we’ve set a goal of submitting thousands of public comments in opposition to this toxic and unjust proposal.
