Submit Testimony on Docket #0187, Petition for a Special Law re: An Act Relative to Reorganization of the Boston School Committee

The final public hearing in the process of restoring Boston’s right to vote was held this afternoon (April 11), but it's not too late to make sure that the Mayor and City Council hear your voice! Let them hear loud and clear that restoring democracy is too important for half-measures!

Restoring Boston’s voting rights can happen this year, but we can’t get there without you! We need you and everyone in your network to send the message that fulfilling the voters’ undeniable mandate on this issue must happen. Only sustained public pressure from advocates like you will ensure the current Home Rule Petition to restore Boston’s right to a fully elected school committee makes it through the city council, the mayor, and the State House to be enacted by the end of 2022.

Even if it’s just a brief statement of support for restoring a fully elected school committee without delay, your voice will make a difference. Your written testimony can be whatever length you’d like. What’s important is that your voice is heard and your opinion is counted.

We’ve populated the letter field with a few bullet points that you can feel free to use and modify for your own testimony as you see fit, but make sure you write your own testimony. Above all, be sure to write about why this issue matters TO YOU.

When you submit your letter, it will go to the Government Ops Committee to be recorded as testimony for Docket #0187, Petition for a Special Law re: An Act Relative to Reorganization of the Boston School Committee, as well as to Mayor Wu and the City Council.
