Support Funding for the Bilingual Teacher Professional Development Grant Program!
We need 1-3 minutes of your time to support funding to increase the number of bilingual teachers. AB 1127 (Reyes) will revise and re-establish the Bilingual Teacher Professional Development Program (BTPDP) previously used as a successful grow-your-own tool to address the bilingual teacher shortage across California.
The prior BTPDP ended in 2021 and allowed eligible local educational agencies to apply for state funds to provide professional learning opportunities. BTPDP applicants were encouraged to partner with at least one school, or county office of education, with a public or private nonprofit or a four-year institution of higher education, in good standing, to prepare credentialed teachers to elevate their bilingual skills or for credentialed teachers and paraprofessionals to obtain a bilingual authorization.
AB 1127 is a “win-win” situation for all – for California’s students, for parents seeking bilingual programs for their children. Support the re-establishment of the BTPDP by clicking on the button below to submit a in support of AB 1127 to the Chair of the Appropriations Committee (Assemblymember Holden).
