Support Montgomery's Strong Forest Protection Bill

“For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver.”

- Martin Luther King Jr.

The Montgomery County Council has introduced legislation (Bill 25-22) to significantly strengthen the county’s Forest Conservation Law, which hasn’t been updated in some time. This is such a welcome development for human and ecosystem health.

MCA has been proud to work with the MoCo Forest Coalition to ensure that this updated law is as strong as oak - particularly when it comes to protecting existing forests.  Thanks to all of our supporters who wrote in to promote the coalition's top 3 asks -

1. Protection for existing forest ecosystems

2. Ensuring no net loss of forests

3.Strengthening watershed protections.

The bill is coming up for a hearing this week and we support its passage with these strong protections in place - can you reach out one more time to support this strengthened legislation? Click "start writing" to send the Council a message.

The time to strengthen forest protection in Montgomery County is now.

Thank you for taking action for forests! Much more background here.
