Support the Nuclear Weapons Abolition and (Climate) Conversion Act
The United States is spending tens of billions of dollars each year on nuclear weapons while the people of America suffer. It is time to reprioritize. Eleanor Holmes Norton's H.R. 1888, the Nuclear Weapons Abolition and Conversion Act, calls for the elimination of nuclear weapons and the conversion of the money and other resources being wasted on nuclear weapons to be used instead to address the climate crisis and other pressing domestic needs.
With escalating nuclear flashpoints all around the world, it is more important than ever to stand firm in our principles that nuclear weapons are an unacceptable danger to the planet. No one is safe while they exist. At the same time the climate crisis escalates with disastrous consequences, and the American people are feeling those effects. The urgency of both of these issues cannot be understated.
We need to be addressing these TWO existential threats to humanity with the same sense of urgency and commitment.
The Nuclear Weapons Abolition and Conversion Act, H.R. 1888 addresses this, and allows these issues to be raised with urgency in Congress at a time when they cannot be forgotten. Urge your representatives to support this bill to abolish nuclear weapons and refocus those resources on the climate crisis.
