Support the Reuben Hoar Library

On April 10th, the Board of Selectmen will vote on whether or not to support a Town Meeting Warrant that would allow the Littleton town library to compete for a construction grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

On May 1, the citizens of Littleton will have the opportunity to make this happen with a ⅔ vote to approve the building location, schematic design, and transfer of land contingent on the project moving forward.

There is no request for money at this time. We are merely asking the Board of Selectmen and ultimately the town to continue to support the grant process that they have already supported with two Town Meeting votes in the past.

Littleton is a town of readers. Among approximately 9,200 Littleton residents, 7,131 are registered borrowers. Our per capita checkouts are among the highest in the state.

- The library is available to all Littleton residents regardless of age or income.

- Last year alone, the Reuben Hoar Library was visited 55,000 times.

- The library came out as one of the top priorities of the citizens at the master plan meetings.

- A new, fully ADA-compliant library will allow us to better meet the needs of all Littleton residents - it will provide expanded space for infant, children, and teen programs, relief from overbooked meeting rooms, and an easily accessible and inviting place for seniors.

- At the May 1 Town Meeting, the library is merely asking to remain eligible for matching funds from the state.  If the article does not pass, Littleton will not be eligible for matching state funds until the next round of grants, five or six years from now.

Please sign up to send an email to tell your Selectmen and the citizens of Littleton how important having a safe, modern, new library is to you and your family. If you have a particular story that illustrates that, feel free to personalize your letter.
