Support Affordable, Accessible, High-Quality Early Education and Child Care!

The Common Start Coalition is a diverse coalition including community, faith-based, labor, business, and early education and child care organizations, as well as early educators, parents, individuals, and direct service organizations. Our goal is ensure that all families have the care solutions they need and that all children in our Commonwealth have the same, strong start and enter school on a level playing field.

We recognize that in order to achieve our goal, Massachusetts families need affordable, accessible, high-quality early education and child care. While Massachusetts is a nationwide leader on early education and child care and we’ve made important progress in recent years, the current system remains broken and access to quality early education and care remains out of reach for too many families.

Last year, the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted just how important child care is to the Massachusetts economy. Without access to affordable, high-quality early education and child care, parents and other caregivers struggle to balance work and caring for their children, and children miss out on the learning environments, structure, and stability that sets them up to thrive.

It’s clear - Massachusetts needs affordable and accessible high-quality early education and care. And in order to achieve this reality, the Common Start Coalition is supporting Common Start legislation filed by Representatives Gordon and Madaro (HD 1960) and Senators Lewis and Moran (SD 1307) - but we can’t do it without your help.

Our elected officials need to hear from their constituents directly - take two seconds today to fill out this form and email your state rep and state senator directly to cosponsor this crucial piece of legislation! While we have a template email about the Common Start legislation, please feel free to include your own personal story - let’s make our voices heard on Beacon Hill.

If you hear back from your legislators, feel free to let us know at info@commonstartma.org, and thank you for taking action with the Common Start Coalition!
