House Bill 615 by Rep. Stuart Bishop would prevent Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality from regulating petrochemical/industrial sites in favor of a system of "self-reporting" by the petrochemical companies themselves.

It would create a legal privilege that allows companies to withhold the contents of their internal environmental compliance audits from regulators and the public. This privilege would allow companies to hide results that may prove harmful, opening the door to environmental destruction occurring without penalty.

It only takes one cut corner to threaten the health and safety of our families, while burdening every taxpayer in the state with the cost of cleanup.
