Take Action Now: Tell Lawmakers to Protect Georgians from Deception and Fund Real Healthcare

Every person deserves access to honest, evidence-based healthcare, including during pregnancy. Unfortunately, while Georgia has only 13 abortion clinics and diminishing numbers of prenatal and birthing facilities, we also have to dodge nearly 100 fake clinics in our state. These fake clinics, also known as anti-abortion centers (AACs), use deceptive tactics to mislead individuals seeking reproductive healthcare, steering them away from abortion care and other real medical services. Despite providing little to no legitimate healthcare, these centers receive $2 million in public funding each year. This is money that should be directed towards genuine reproductive care.
Right now, Georgia lawmakers have a chance to do right by pregnant Georgians. Three critical pieces of legislation have been introduced in our state House and Senate to stop the fraud and misuse of public funds by fake clinics. Use your voice to urge legislators to pass the following measures:
✅ HB 488 and SB 196 - Pregnancy Center Fraud Prevention Act: Prevents fake clinics that only provide limited pregnancy services (like home pregnancy tests and non-diagnostic ultrasounds) from falsely implying they provide abortion, prenatal care, or other services with medical professionals when they do not.
✅ HB 489 and SB 197 - End Public Funding of Misinformation Act: Ends the 2017 grant program that gave $2 million of public funds per year to fake clinics that provide little to no legitimate medical care.
✅ HR 274 and SR 207 - Fund Healthy Pregnancy and Parenting Resolution: Urges the redirection of $2 million in state funds per year from unregulated fake clinics to instead support the Georgia Home Visiting Program, an evidence-based program that provides home visits during pregnancy and early childhood to improve birth outcomes, including infant and maternal survival.

Why This Matters to Georgians
Fake clinics outnumber real abortion providers 7 to 1 in Georgia.
Fake clinics use deceptive advertising to mislead people and divert them from abortion care.
Studies show people who visit a fake clinic get delayed from accessing abortion care or prenatal care by multiple weeks compared to people who do not.
Georgia still has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the U.S. We cannot risk delays in care.
Because of Georgia’s cruel law banning most abortions after six weeks, fake clinics’ delay tactics can have a major impact on people’s highly personal decisions. That’s by design.
Despite causing harm and providing little to no real medical services, fake clinics receive millions in public funding. Georgians’ tax dollars should go toward real healthcare solutions instead.
Thank you for taking action with us! Together we can ensure that every Georgian has access to the care they need. Send your letter today!
