TAKE ACTION on behalf of Garifuna leaders in danger

On the morning of Saturday July 18, four Garifuna leaders from the community of Triunfo de la Cruz in the north of Honduras were kidnapped by men in bullet proof vests. Affiliated with the Black Fraternal Organization of Honduras (OFRANEH), this community won their legal case in the Inter-American Court on Human Rights in 2015, which ordered the Honduran government to respect and protect the community's ancestral rights. However, the government has not taken any action to comply with the ruling and instead, Garifuna leaders continue to face violence for defending their ancestral territories and culture in Honduras.

Their whereabouts are still unknown, and time is of the essence. You can help by writing to your Congressional Representative and Senators by using the form to the right. After sending the emails, you can use the call script found at the end of the form to leave a voicemail in the offices of your Rep and Senators as well.
