Tell ASU leadership: Don't sign Trump's contract!
Tell Arizona State University President Michael Crow and school leaders: don't sign Donald Trump's politically-charged compact for universities.
ASU's charter rightfully says that our university is "measured not by whom it excludes, but by whom it includes." On the other hand, this compact will compel the university to uplift radical conservative ideas, introduce discrimination against students and faculty, turn down thousands of international students, crack down on free speech, and face harsh penalties if it doesn't fall in lockstep with whatever Donald Trump and MAGA Education Secretary Linda McMahon want.
What else does the compact include?
- Erases non-binary and trans students, and lets the Trump administration oversee ASU's bathroom policies.
- Caps international student enrollment, preventing students from across the globe from coming to study at our world-class university.
- Requires the university to share international students' personal information with the Trump administration upon request.
- Threatens free speech by abolishing potentially anti-conservative institutions. Could this gut environmental studies, teaching history as it happened (not how some fantasize it to have happened), reliable public health information, and so on?
- Cracks down on students' ability to demonstrate, which is a constitutionally protected right.
University of Arizona President Suresh Garimella turned down the compact. Let's ensure ASU refuses to bend the knee and joins the Wildcats in saying HELL NO!
