Urge Your Legislators to Take Action on Justice Reform
It’s been over one year since legislation was introduced and we are running out of time for Congress to act! We’re working hard to get this done and you can help us by contacting your congressional legislators and urging them to pass justice reform.
Congress will be back in session soon and we need criminal justice reform to be at the top of their agenda.
The states have been successful implementing reforms, and now it's time for us to see action at the federal level. Conservative-led states like Oklahoma and Iowa have led the charge by reforming their sentencing laws, and even the state with the country’s highest incarceration rate, Louisiana, is smoothing the path to employment for returning citizens. Most recently, Kentucky instituted a criminal justice policy assessment council to reform the state’s penal code while its neighbor Ohio is also undertaking a comprehensive review of its justice system to improve public safety and make the laws fairer and more effective. We’ve also seen success in states like Michigan and Pennsylvania and our polling in these key battleground states eliminate any doubt that there is a mandate for reform.
In today’s political climate, lawmakers disagree on many issues, but criminal justice reform is not one of them. As many leaders have said in the past, let’s focus not on our differences but on what we can agree.
Thanks for helping us get this far. We’re not finished yet! Together, we can transform this country!
