Tell Congress to lift the ban on Afghan refugees

President Trump's new anti-immigrant policies are cruel and inhumane.

Since January 20th, he has banned refugees, including Afghans left behind. Furthermore, there are reports that the Administration is closing the State Department's Office of the Coordinator for Afghan Relocation Efforts (CARE), despite the fact this office was made permanent by an act of Congress just recently in 2024.

This is unacceptable and yet another betrayal of Afghans.

Since 2021, Afghans and Americans across the country have come together to welcome Afghans fleeing the Taliban's rule. President's Trump’s abrupt cancellation of refugee flights and and ban on new processing leaves Afghans in limbo in across the world and impacts tens of thousands. The Trump administration has also started deportations of Afghans and others to countries like Panama, a country to which they have no ties. The United States owes a great deal of debt to Afghans left behind, as it was militarily involved for over 20 years in Afghanistan, culminated in bringing the Taliban back to power. Allowing Afghans to seek safety and refuge in the United States is a way to repay the debt owed to Afghans and repair the harm that was done.

Tell Congress to lift the ban on Afghan and other refugees and to stand by them in this important moment.
