The U.S. House of Representatives’ fiscal year 2026 (FY26) agriculture funding bill includes a provision that prevents USDA from implementing and enforcing important Packers and Stockyards Act (PSA) rules. These rules protect family farmers and ranchers from anticompetitive and abusive practices in the highly consolidated meat and poultry industries.

Because of these attempts to undermine the PSA, along with drastic funding cuts to farm and food programs, National Farmers Union opposes this FY26 agriculture funding bill in its current form.
