Tell Florida Lawmakers to Help Keep Students Healthy!

Florida schools could see millions in additional federal dollars for school-based health services — including mental health screenings, diagnoses and treatment — under legislation sponsored by Rep. Alex Andrade and Sens. Bill Montford and Gayle Harrell (HB 81/SB 190).

Recent changes to federal law allow schools to receive matching federal dollars for health services they provide to any Medicaid-eligible student. But state law hasn't been updated yet, and so Florida schools are only receiving a small portion of the federal funds that they should be.

Making this fix to Florida law would come at zero cost to the state.

Students are better learners when they are healthy. This common-sense legislation helps ensure that schools can provide Florida children with important health care services.
