Tell Oregon Officials: Enforce Oregon Opt Out Law

Oregon law explicitly gives parents the right to opt their children out of state standardized tests as well as mandating notification by districts and public charter schools to parents and adult students about these assessments. Yet, we have received reports that districts are attempting to make information less available to parents in order to increase student participation rates in the statewide Smarter Balanced Assessment. Methods of notification being undertaken by districts are resulting in disparities of access to such notification and we must call upon the state to stop these practices.
