Regent Behm, Support Equity for Dearborn and Flint!

Dear Regent Behm,

I write to you today because I am angry and disappointed that after two years of conversation, the Regents and Administration have done nothing to address obstacles to student success in Flint and Dearborn. As an institution, we cannot proclaim our support for equity while refusing to invest our wealth in students on the campuses where over half of our Pell-grant eligible students attend.

This is why I am sending this message to demand equity for our Flint and Dearborn Campuses. This must include:

  1. Reversing harmful COVID-19 related budget cuts
  2. Expanding the Go Blue Guarantee to all three campuses
  3. Implementing the proposal laid out by the 1U Coalition in their report “Leaders and Best Without Exception”

You must vote on a June budget that fulfills the University’s role as a public institution on the Flint and Dearborn campuses, or you risk losing credibility in the eyes of voters, many of whom voted for you because of your professed commitments to these noble ideals.
