Tell Senators: Reject H.3927

AFFA Action Oppose H.3927

Write a Letter to South Carolina Senators Urging Them to Reject H.3927

H.3927 - the “Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity Act” - passed the SC House 82 to 32 and now heads to the Senate.

This bill would ban diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs in public schools, colleges, and state agencies. It would prevent institutions from funding DEI offices, staff, and trainings, limit conversations around race, gender, and sexual orientation, and ban state contracts with organizations that support DEI.

After being amended in committee, the bill was reverted on the House floor to its original, harsher form, modeled after a federal executive order banning DEI. This version passed without a required fiscal impact statement.

H.3927 directly targets LGBTQ+ people, Black and brown communities, disabled individuals, and other marginalized groups by stripping away efforts to build inclusive and equitable public spaces.

Urge SC Senators to vote NO on H.3927 and protect the rights and dignity of all South Carolinians.
