Tell the Zoning Committee to Support Thousands of New Homes in Uptown and Edgewater

The proposed Broadway upzoning from Montrose to Devon in the 46th, 47th, and 48th Wards is a crucial step forward for Chicago. This proactive plan addresses the urgent need for more housing by modernizing outdated zoning along a key transit corridor—just as the over $2 billion Red and Purple Line Modernization Phase 1 comes to a close this summer. By enabling mixed-use, multi-family development near Red Line stations and major bus routes, the plan embraces smart growth that supports both our housing needs and climate goals.

This initiative will help revitalize underutilized properties, expand housing options for a diverse range of residents, and strengthen neighborhood economies—all while aligning with one of the largest public transit investments in city history and would be the largest upzoning in the city’s history!
Note: If you live in the 46th, 47th, or 48th ward please add that to your letter. It is very important that the committee hear from residents in those wards.
