WEAC and our coalition partners are welcoming a collective bargaining bill to allow educators the ability to take part in unlimited, full and fair negotiations. It's an important first step and an opportunity to build momentum around our conversations with educators, legislators and the public about why educations should have the freedom to join together in negotiations.

The proposal would remove all restrictions for negotiating salaries, wages, hours, benefits and working conditions, as well as restores impasse resolution procedures. For teachers, preparation time and teacher evaluation systems become mandatory subjects of bargaining. Also, annual recertification elections are repealed and simple majority of those voting in certification elections is restored.
