Tell Your Representative: Vote NO to PAGE Act

On July 14, 2017, Representative Todd Rokita (R-IN) introduced a bill which would undermine the civil service system by weakening established workforce protections created to protect federal employees. If enacted, all new federal hires will become “at will” employees. Another section of this bill allows agency heads to immediately suspend an employee for “misconduct” for any amount of time.

NAGE/IBPO National President David J. Holway wrote a letter to members of the House in opposition of this anti-employee legislation stating, “This legislation is nothing more than an attack on prospective and current federal employees and their right to due process and representation.”

With the change of administration, NAGE anticipates numerous pieces of legislation like this, as there has been multiple anti-employee bills introduced in the House and Senate this year. However, NAGE will continue to fight for your rights and those of all federal employees, but we need YOUR help. We urge you to contact your representative and tell them to vote NO to the PAGE Act.

To call your representative in the House, call the Capital Switchboard at 202-224-3121, and ask to speak to your congressman about the PAGE Act.

Do not call/send letters during official duty time, using a government phone, on government property, or using government equipment.
