Tell State Legislators: California Needs a Green New Deal

No matter who you are or where you come from, we all deserve safe, healthy homes and neighborhoods where we can raise our kids and grow our roots. We deserve dignified work that contributes to the well-being of our communities and pays family-supporting wages. Our young people, and all future generations, deserve clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and a healthy and safe planet.

That is why California needs a Green New Deal. A Green New Deal is not just possible, it is necessary to we can protect our communities from escalating climate catastrophes, wildfires, pollution, and exploitation. We have to take bold action now to address these crises and build the new economy our communities need in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, we have an opportunity to make transformative changes that protect Californians from pollution, create good jobs and invest in communities on the frontlines of the struggle against climate change. We can:

  • Expand health care by passing A.B. 1400
  • Build affordable housing by passing A.B. 387
  • Fund community resilience by passing A.B. 1087
  • Advance equity by passing S.B. 17
  • Ban fracking by passing S.B. 467

Passing these five bills will be a powerful first step toward achieving a Green New Deal in California. But to pass legislation bold enough to meet this moment, we need thousands of Californians to take action. Will you join us in calling on your legislators to publicly support our five priority bills in 2021?
