Tell Your State Representative to Establish a Police Brutality Citizens Review Committee!

We are contacting members of the South Carolina Senate to ask for their support for H 3409, a bill that will establish a Police Brutality Citizens Review Committee.

In recent times, the rise of technology has increased civic engagement in cases of police confrontation. Citizens have been able to use their own smartphones to record instances of police brutality, providing a prominent example of the racial inequality and lack of accountability within the current American policing system.

H 3409 would add a “Police Brutality Citizens Review Committee'' adding a layer of accountability to the current policing system in South Carolina. This committee would allow for instances of suggested police brutality to be investigated by unbiased committee members, in addition to a traditional jury.

It is a necessity that this bill is passed for the safety of citizens in South Carolina.
