Tell Your State Representative to Support Mandatory Officer Diversity Training!

We are contacting members of the South Carolina House to ask for their support for H.3723, making diversity training mandatory for all police officers.

After a year that was spent highlighting the injustices and failures of the American criminal justice system, it is our, and your, responsibility to foster a fairer and more equal system of justice.

According to a poll by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), 91% of Americans say that America has problems within its criminal justice system and 71% of Americans say it’s important to reduce the prison population.

Three years. That’s the period of time that would take for the recertification of an officer’s diversity training under the amendment. Those three years would train an officer how to handle and diffuse situations that they are put in.

Systemic racism has plagued our criminal justice system since its creation and we have the obligation to amend the law to provide a fair system for people of all skin color, ethnic background, religion, and class distinction. The way we step towards that goal in our state is with the passage of H.3723.
