Thank Your Senators for Opposing Labor Secretary Nominee Andrew Puzder

Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Labor—fast food CEO Andrew Puzder—would be a disaster for working Americans. He’s railed against a meaningful increase in the minimum wage, opposed expanding overtime pay and supported replacing working people with machines. Of his Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s restaurants that were investigated for labor law complaints, 60% were found to have violated the law. Most of these complaints were for failure to pay workers minimum wage or overtime.

Our Senators do NOT support Puzder for Secretary of Labor. Add your name to thank them for supporting New Jersey’s working families.

Senator Menendez’ Statement: “Andrew Puzder’s abhorrent treatment of his workers is incredibly concerning. As a fast food giant, he has played fast and loose with U.S. labor laws. He has fought against a living wage and strengthening overtime rules, and even advocated for replacing human workers with robots. He has single-handedly helped to grow America’s class of working poor and food insecure, while blaming the very government programs and protections that keep hard-working families from falling even further behind.”

Senator Booker’s Statement: “When your greatest contribution to working families is helping to create an industry culture that’s left millions of fast food employees – more than a quarter of whom are parents – earning less than a living wage and yielded the horrifying irony of a third of restaurant workers being considered ‘food insecure’ by the USDA, then you’re unfit to serve as Secretary of Labor, period.”
