UChicago End the Repression: Stop Targeted Disciplinary Procedures Over Pro-Palestinian Activism!
Our efforts to pressure the University to drop disciplinary procedures for Pro-Palestinian activism is working! 4 graduating students finally had their degrees conferred and disciplinary procedures against 6 students have been dropped. Still, the work is not done here.
The University of Chicago informed one graduate student that their degree was being withheld without justification on May 31st, the day of their divisional graduation ceremony. Almost 2 months have passed and the student’s degree is still being withheld. We demand UChicago finally let them graduate!
The grad student’s disciplinary hearing with the Department of Humanities is set for August 7. It is imperative that we show they have extensive community support. We are sure community support made a tangible difference in conferring 4 undergraduate' degrees withheld for Pro-Palestine activism at UChicago, let’s do the same for the one remaining student’s degree!
