Mientras los Estados Unidos celebran el Mes de la Herencia Hispana, la comunidad latina recuerda una historia de políticos estadounidenses que piden nuestros votos sin tener en cuenta nuestra contribución en el construir constante de los EEUU. Los inmigrantes quedaron traumatizados cuando Barack Obama prometió esperanza y cambio solo para convertirse en el "El Deportador en Jefe" de nuestra comunidad. Después de los cuatro últimos años de la escalada de políticas racistas de la Administración Trump, los legisladores demócratas tienen la oportunidad de finalmente darnos el cambio que necesitamos y sanar las heridas de nuestra comunidad al proporcionar un camino hacia la ciudadanía para 10 millones de inmigrantes en el proyecto de ley de reconciliación presupuestaria.

La recompensa podría ser enorme si los demócratas optan por responder a las necesidades de la comunidad inmigrante con esta inclusión. Generaciones de latinos tendrán evidencia de que valoran su voto y permanecerán para siempre en las filas del Partido Demócrata. Sin embargo, si las cosas siguen como de costumbre, las generaciones presentes y futuras se irán en busca de políticos que de hecho respondan a nuestras necesidades.

As  the U.S. celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, the Hispanic/Latine community recalls a history of U.S. politicians asking for our votes while disregarding our contributions in the making of the USA. Immigrants were traumatized when Barack Obama promised hope and change only to become instead the “Deporter and Cager in Chief'' for our community. After four years of the Trump Administration's escalation of racist policies, Democratic legislators have the opportunity to finally give us the change we need and heal our community by providing a path to citizenship for 10 million immigrants in the Budget Reconciliation bill.

The reward could be huge if Democrats choose to heal the immigrant community with this inclusion. Generations of Latinos will have evidence that they are valued and forever remain in the ranks of the Democratic Party. However, if things continue as usual, current and future generations will leave in search of politicians who actually respond to our needs.

Tell our representatives in Congress that if they value us, they will include a path to citizenship for immigrants in the budget reconciliation package.
