Urge Mr. Deal and the Maui Planning Commission to listen to Lahaina

On Tuesday, April 22nd, the Maui Planning Commission will once again hear the shoreline permit application for 1045 Front Street—the proposed home of Stanley and Dilara Deal. Their application was submitted just three days before the new shoreline rules took effect.
At the last hearing, Mr. Deal shared that he and his wife are “deeply committed to the community.” Now is the time to show that commitment in action. This project sets a precedent for how shoreline rebuilding will move forward in Lahaina. We're urging the Deal family and the Commission to align with the West Maui Community Plan and choose a design that respects this place—by protecting public access, using native plants, avoiding a pool, and keeping a lower-profile wall that fits the character of our coast.
We’re asking you to send in testimony that will be shared with both the Planning Commission and Mr. Deal. Let’s urge them to do the right thing—for the shoreline and for Lahaina’s future.
