Urge SC House Judiciary Committee to Reject H.3477, Clone of Anti-Transgender Athletics Ban

On Tuesday, April 27, the South Carolina House Judiciary Committee will consider H.4153, a bill that would prohibit transgender youth in middle and high school from participating in student athletics. The bill is nearly identical to measures that have already been rejected twice in the 2021 legislative session – first on March 16 when the House Judiciary Committee tabled H.3477 and then shortly after when lawmakers tried to include the bill through the South Carolina budget.

Every student should be able to access the opportunities and lessons of school athletics. To categorically deny transgender students the freedom to play alongside their peers is completely at odds with lawmakers’ duties to care for and protect our youth.

We need your help to reject this last-ditch effort to force discrimination into law: Send a message to the House Judiciary Committee members and urge them to reject this legislation. Just use these tools.
