South Carolina is facing one of the biggest onslaughts of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in the country.

And top of the list for anti-LGBTQ+ lawmakers is a series of bills that directly target the safety and privacy of LGBTQ+ youth. These bills – S.234, H.3197, and H.3485 – amount to an anti-LGBTQ+ wishlist of attacks on queer youth.

If passed, the provisions in these bills would endanger and directly harm thousands of LGBTQ+ young people across the state by:

• Blocking students’ freedom to learn;

• Banning discussion of LGBTQ+ identity, and often racial justice, in schools;

• Forcing school staff to “out” LGBTQ+ students to parents;

• Interfering with young people’s access to life-saving medical care
