Urge Your Legislators to Support MTA-Backed Bill to Ensure Paid Family and Medical Leave for Municipal Workers!

The MTA is supporting legislation to ensure paid family and medical leave (PFML) benefits for municipal workers, and we need your help to secure legislative co-sponsors.

The bill, An Act to ensure paid family and medical leave benefits for municipal employees, was filed by Senator Mike Brady (D-Brockton) and Representative Dave Rogers (D-Cambridge). The current state PFML law extends to all Massachusetts workers —  except for municipal employees. Municipalities have the option to adopt the law, but unfortunately no city or town has done so to date. This legislation would ensure that all municipal workers are covered by the law, and in doing so would make Massachusetts the national leader in providing paid leave to all working families. Please email your legislators right away and urge them to support and co-sponsor MTA-backed legislation to ensure paid family and medical leave benefits for municipal workers! Please also consider calling your legislators to follow up on your email. You can find your legislators’ phone numbers by clicking here.
