The Virginia Dept. of Transportation (VDOT) has a plan to extend private toll lanes from Springfield, VA to Oxon Hill, MD. The plan would not solve congestion. Instead, it would shift congestion in Virginia to Maryland, creating a substantial bottleneck in Oxon Hill.

Moreover, the plan would block Metro’s plans to extend the Blue Line across the Woodrow Wilson Bridge to National Harbor and later to Oxon Hill and other points in Prince George’s County.
