Vote NO on HB 1406

HB 1406 is moving through the Georgia House which would dictate how cities and counties could re-zone single-family property to multifamily property, in turn making the process longer, more arduous, and creating more hurdles for municipalities to jump through in order to make housing more affordable for residents.

The bill is scheduled to be heard in the Governmental Affairs Committee TODAY: Take action now and contact committee members and tell them to vote NO on House Bill 1406.

Essentially, this makes it more difficult for cities to upzone their own property by creating state laws defining the timeline, public notice, and procedures from shifting land which is currently designated for single-family homes and rezoning it for multifamily development.

If passed, HB1406 would create barriers for cities allowing development for multifamily housing which is significantly more affordable than single-family homes. Please contact the House Governmental Affairs Committee NOW and tell them to vote NO.
