Vote YES to Confirm Justice Andrew McDonald for Chief Justice!

When Justice McDonald was nominated by Governor Malloy, 46 of Connecticut’s most prominent and respected lawyers sent a letter to the legislature that spoke to the dangers of confirming judges based on partisan concerns or because of one decision. They said doing so “threatens the critical component of the checks and balances that undergird our democratic system of government.”

But that is exactly what happened yesterday when the House voted on Justice Andrew McDonald’s confirmation. The House approved the confirmation of Justice Andrew McDonald on a vote of just 75-74 with every Republican but one voting no. With five Democrats also voting no, the Republicans are on their way to stopping the confirmation of Justice McDonald simply because he was nominated by the sitting Democrat Governor.

The fate of Justice McDonald’s nomination now sits with the upcoming Senate vote and we need to keep the pressure up! We need YOU to contact your Senator and urge them to vote YES on a vote to confirm Justice McDonald as the next Chief Justice of the CT Supreme Court.
