We Need A Strong Seaport Sound Environmental Impact Statement

As many of you know, the City of Tacoma has reversed their earlier decision and is now requiring an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed tank expansion project at SeaPort Sound Terminal that would have increased their fossil fuel storage by 14%!

City Planners agreed with CHB’s analysis that the company’s proposal was inadequate, and will require SeaPort Sound to analyze:

  •     Public safety and emergency response
  •     Oil spill risk and safety
  •     Air quality impacts
  •     Greenhouse gas impacts from the extra fossil fuel storage

The City wants to hear from you on what you think should be included in the EIS.  Written comments are due by February 25 @5PM & can be emailed to Shirley.schultz@cityoftacoma.org.
