Write to Howard County's Board of Education

On January 1, 2016, HCPSS plans to impose a 3.9% price increase for employee health insurance.

HCPSS asserts that the school system:

  • will not negotiate the amount of the price increase,
  • will not bring the issue to the Board of Education (BOE) for approval.
  • will not seek competitive bids from health insurance providers for two more years.

Every year HCEA analyzes the BOE budget with the help of experts from MSEA and NEA. We have learned that the Board collects more than necessary from you in health insurance contributions—see below.
