"description": "Senate Bill 2202 aims to prohibit businesses receiving state economic subsidies from voluntarily recognizing a union in their workplace. This bill is a threat to the labor rights of workers and the freedoms of business owners to make their own choices about their workplaces. Voluntary recognition of representation is protected by the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). Federal worker rights cannot be overridden by state legislation. The fundamental right of voluntary recognition has been upheld time and time again in courtrooms. If workers demonstrate majority support for forming a union and their employer is ready to sit down to bargain a fair contract, lawmakers in Jackson want to force both them into an oftentimes lengthy National Labor Relations Board election. A majority of Americans would join a union right now if they could, and working people across all sectors of the economy are organizing like never before. Our elected representatives should not be making it harder for working families to secure fair wages, good benefits and respect on the job. Protect the freedom of workers and business owners: Tell your state senator to vote NO on SB 2202.",
