"description": "I am writing to you to urge you to support the equal treatment of M/C employees in terms of compensation. Specifically, I am asking you to support legislation that guarantees that the 10,000 Management and Confidential (M/C) employees of the State of New York are paid general salary increases in concert with their union-represented co-workers. M/C employees are not permitted by State law to organize as a union. We are, however, compensated unfairly when compared to our union-represented co-workers…EVEN in those situations where M/C and union-represented employees share the VERY SAME TITLE and VERY SAME SALARY GRADE and some even work in the same office! M/C employees do not ask for special treatment; we only ask that M/C employees be treated no worse than any other employee group, unionized or not! Recent history holds numerous examples of inequitable treatment of M/C employees: In 2009 and 2010, general salary increases were withheld from M/Cs, but were paid for union-represented employees. NO back pay was EVER awarded! In 2020, union-represented employees received their performance advances and longevity lump sum payments on schedule; such compensation was withheld from M/C employees until 2021! CSEA and PEF-represented employees at all grade levels receive longevity lump sum payments, but only M/C employees at or below Grade 17 receive such compensation; almost 9,000 hard working M/C employees above Grade 17 are not paid the very same longevity lump sum payments that their union counterparts earn! The new PEF contract pays a Higher Education Differential and a Dental Insurance Stipend; to date these payments have not been extended to M/C employees. Your help is needed now to end this inequitable treatment and ensure that ALL employees are treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve! If you believe, as I do, that the State’s employees should be treated equally, I urgently request that you support the immediate passage S.1750/A.2676 to guarantee compensation parity for M/C employees. Without this guarantee in law, there can be no assurance that the inequitable treatment of M/C employees will end!",
