"description": "I am writing to urge your support of the Equal Pay for Equal Work is a formal policy of the State of New York that demands ALL State employees be treated consistently and equitably in matters of compensation! Unfortunately, the State has not lived up to its own policy! Management and Confidential (M/C) employees of the State of New York by law cannot unionize and so M/C’s are frequently treated less well than our union represented colleagues. M/C’s are compensated unfairly when compared to our union-represented coworkers…EVEN in those situations where M/C and union-represented employees share the VERY SAME TITLE or VERY SAME SALARY GRADE! M/C employees do not ask for special treatment; we only ask that M/C employees be treated no worse than any other employee group, unionized or not! Current salary schedules for M/C employees reveal a significant and growing discrepancy between our annual salaries and those of union-represented coworkers serving at the same or equivalent salary grade. For example, a union-represented Senior Budgeting Analyst, Salary Grade 18, has a starting salary of $79,000. By contrast, an M/C-designated Senior Budgeting Analyst, also Salary Grade 18, has a starting salary of $77,000, a $2,000 DIFFERENCE for NO JUSTIFIABLE REASON. Depending upon salary grade, salary grade differences can run as high as almost $3,000! Your help is needed NOW to end this inequality and ensure that ALL employees are treated with the dignity and respect that they deserve! If you believe that the State’s employees should be treated equally, I urgently request that you support the immediate passage of S.1722/A.2743 to guarantee salary parity for M/C employees. Without this guarantee in law, there can be no assurance that the inequitable compensation of M/C employees will be addressed!",
