"description": "Governor Lamont Needs to Hear from You Now! Last week, the General Assembly acted boldly to support workers who have no choice but to go on strike. Legislators passed HB 5431 creating a $3 million relief fund at the Comptroller’s Office for striking workers. Governor Lamont is threatening to side with CEOs and veto the bill! Rather than negotiate in good faith, some employers use workers' financial distress as a bargaining strategy. Bad bosses make unaffordable last best offers, forcing workers to strike. Knowing workers cannot access unemployment benefits, CEOs try to "starve them out," preying upon on their fears of eviction, loss of health insurance, or other economic hardships. The General Assembly understands that's not fair and passed HB 5431 to provide assistance (similar to unemployment benefits) to workers who've been on strike for two weeks. In a few days, Governor Lamont will have to decide if he will sign or veto this bill. Contact him now and ask him to stand with working people! Urge him to help level the playing field for striking workers by signing HB 5431 to create the Connecticut families and workers account.",
