"description": "Rather than negotiate in good faith, some employers use workers' financial distress as a bargaining strategy. They may try to force a strike and "starve workers out," preying upon on their fears of eviction, loss of health insurance, or other economic hardships, knowing they won’t be paid or receive unemployment benefits during a strike. Extending unemployment insurance to striking workers would cost little and encourage fair negotiations. House Bill 5164 would make striking workers eligible for unemployment benefits after they have been on strike for two weeks. This is a big deal because it will help level the playing by incentivizing employers to bargain in good faith and allowing workers to access unemployment benefits when they do not. TAKE ACTION TODAY! Send an email to your State Representative urging them to support HB 5164",
