"description": "The DOJ recently asked for access to the state’s entire voter file, including names, addresses, birthdates, and even driver’s license and social security numbers. Common Cause has gone to court to stop Nebraska Secretary of State Bob Evnen from giving away private voter information to the U.S. Department of Justice (you can read our complaint here). Thanks to our legal action, Nebraska’s Solicitor General has confirmed that no voter data will be released while the lawsuit is pending. This is a critical win for voter privacy—but it’s only temporary. Secretary Evnen has indicated he may still comply with the DOJ’s request once the case is resolved. That’s why we need your help. Please write a letter to Secretary Evnen urging him to uphold Nebraska law and protect our voter data. Tell him that Nebraskans expect their personal information to be safeguarded—not handed over to federal officials for unknown purposes.",
