This year, we have the opportunity to modernize the legislature, and we need your help! Lawmakers are considering a measure, HJR 8, that would make major improvements to our legislature and ensure better service for constituents. Currently, New Mexico has the nation’s ONLY unpaid legislature. HJR 8 Legislative Salaries Commission, CA, would help fix this this by asking voters if they support creating an independent body to determine a fair salary for our legislators.   HJR 8 has passed the House, and is headed to the Senate – where we expect to face stronger opposition.
