"description": "In 2024, students, alumni and one student reporter from Stanford University were arrested in a sit-in of then-Stanford President Richard Saller’s office, to demand that Stanford cut financial ties to the Israeli government's genocide of Palestinians. Eleven of them were indicted on two state grand jury charges for protesting, making them the first out of the more than 3,100 students arrested nationwide to go to felony trial for their activism. They now stand trial in Santa Clara County, and if convicted, face the possibility of more than three years in prison. While universities like Stanford praise the legacy of student activists that helped end domestic support for the Vietnam War and South African apartheid, they are doing all they can to financially, socially, and politically destroy their own students — all to continue their complicity in Israel's genocide. As the trial begins, take action now to demand Stanford University and Santa Clara District Attorney Jeff Rosen drop all criminal charges against the Stanford 11.",
