	"description": "Join us September 15-21st for the 2025 Basic Income Week of Action. This is the 7th annual event hosted in the United States. This collective week of action brings the amazing work across the country together in a unified set of educational and community building efforts. Mass Adoption of Artificial Intelligence is taking our jobs and wreaking havoc on our communities, we must fight back. The majority of people are unaware that this is something to deeply worry about TODAY, and demand the people in power are prepared for, not in 10 years. &amp;nbsp; According to the Impact of AI on workers in the US Report by the US National Science Foundation and Gerald Huff Fund for Humanity, in less than 3 years approximately 25% of all jobs across all industries and occupations will be disrupted by AI. Basic income, a policy to provide recurring cash not tied to someone&#x27;s employment is CRUCIAL to prevent more harm. We need basic income now. People need money to survive, and if stable employment becomes more and more out of reach then our families, our communities are going to suffer even more deeply. And it’s not just our jobs AI is taking, with 50 Million square feet of planned developments for AI Data centers, we still have not helped the 771,480 people experiencing homelessness in the country, a 2024 figure by HUD. We cannot stand by and let them leave us behind. This rapid displacement is happening alongside all the other disruptions that we hear in the news that are hurting people: inflation, federal administration cuts to lifesaving programs like Medicaid, deadly climate disasters, and the continuous drain from everyday people to feed the greed of billionaires. AI’s harm is continuously reassured to us as a problem we haven’t arrived at yet, but those invested are gunning to grow its integration as fast as possible without regulation, and without the input of the communities they are going to devastate. As corporations are cutting jobs to save billions so they can make huge investments into prioritizing Data over People. The investment of Data for AI takes our energy, our drinking water, our land, our taxpayer money, and our job opportunities that we NEED to feed our families and survive. We cannot afford to wait until it’s too late. The Basic Income Week of Action is a national week of our communities organizing and engaging with their elected officials, businesses, and community members to build that resistance and defence.
