	"description": "6th Annual Ride &amp; Reconciliation Join Capital Bike, in partnership with Victoria Orange Shirt Day and Songhees community members, for the 6th Annual Ride &amp; Reconciliation in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This meaningful community event brings together hundreds of people from across the region for a morning of learning, reflection, and connection. The day begins with opening presentations before participants ride together, escorted by police and Capital Bike Ride Marshals, to the South Island Powwow. The ride is approximately 9.2 km, family-friendly, and suitable for riders of all ages and abilities. Participants are encouraged to stay after the ride to experience the Powwow, connect with the community, and enjoy the day&#x27;s celebrations. Event Details Date: Wednesday, September 30 8:30 AM – Meet at Songhees Park (by the Delta Hotel) 9:00 AM – Opening presentations 10:00 AM – Ride departs from the Songhees Walkway with a police escort 11:00 PM – Arrive at Royal Athletic Park to park your bike at the FREE Bike Valet 12:00 PM – Just a few minutes, you arrive at the South Island Powwow​ Distance: Approximately 9.2 km Pace: Relaxed / Family-friendly What to Bring Please bring a road-ready bike, helmet, water, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you&#x27;ll need for a comfortable ride. If you plan to stay and enjoy the Powwow after the ride, a free bike valet will be available at Royal Athletic Park for secure bike parking. About the Ride Ride &amp; Reconciliation is an opportunity to come together as a community in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Through cycling, learning, and shared experiences, participants are invited to reflect, connect, and take part in a meaningful day centered on reconciliation, culture, and community. Registration &amp; Donations This event is free to attend. If you&#x27;re able, donations are greatly appreciated and will support bicycle education for First Nations children and youth, as well as other Indigenous-serving cycling programs.
